Scheduling the Interview at USEM

Embassy Instructions Letter states that 4 hours after payment to BPI you can schedule your interview, but the majority of time it takes 8 - 24 hours before the payment is registered with the embassy. You cannot complete the scheduling till USEM has received the verified information from BPI that you have indeed made your payment.

Staggered Appointment system Effective February 1, 2016.

In our continuing efforts to ensure the highest level of customer service, the Immigrant Visa unit will implement a new appointment system designed to minimize applicant wait time.

Effective February 01, 2016, Immigrant Visa interviews will be scheduled at 6:45 am, 7:30 am, 8:15 am and 9:00 am. Embassy personnel will facilitate entry of immigrant visa applicants 15 minutes prior to their respective interview time slot.

All applicants who arrive earlier than 15 minutes before their interview time will be asked to wait outside the Embassy premises.

Once you have registered you can then schedule the interview. If you have not received the letter from the USEM embassy they will not schedule the interview on the phone without the letter so we recommend scheduling your interview online as there are no issues in doing so. Schedule your appointment online here.  Follow the steps as shown below. When asked for the MVR number be sure to use the number that is printed on the back of your MVR receipt. This is the number that was printed by the bank on the backside after you paid your fee.

  1. At step 1, click on "New User?" at the bottom of the page to setup your account.

  2. At step 2, Create a user name and password

  3. Step 3, select "New Application / Schedule Appointment in the upper left.

  4. When scheduling your interview choose IMMIGRANT VISA as the K-1 visa is listed under that section.

  5. Priority Date - this is not used by USEM with the K-1 visa.  Just the same, the form will not let you leave the space blank so, find your NOA1 and enter the RECEIVED DATE, you will also find it in the email from NVC when you get your MNL #.  Odds are you could use any date being its not used by USEM. But, as we said you can't leave it blank or you can't move forward with your scheduling.

  6. Case ID - this is your MNL #

To schedule an appointment via the telephone (note, it is not faster nor will you get an earlier appointment date by calling vs. online scheduling). The operators are looking at the same schedule as you would. If you're seeing a date not available on line, no need to call, as they are seeing the same thing and they can't circumvent the scheduling process. So don't bother.

If you need to schedule your appointment through USEM's call center use these numbers 976-8500, 976-8501, 976-8502 from Monday-Friday 8am-8pm

Whether you schedule your appointment online or contact the USEM call center, you will need the receipt number printed on your BPI receipt.

For other payment processing times see here.

After scheduling the interview you will come to the APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION page. While on this page, select EMAIL CONFIRMATION (you can now send to multiple email addresses, so send one to yourself and one to your fiancé(e)).  Be sure to keep this in a safe place as you will need it later on as you will need the appointment confirmation page to use for your medical, plus you will need a copy for the embassy on interview day.

Once you schedule the interview online and get the confirmation email from the embassy, print four copies (keep one for interview day), and bring three copies to St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLEC) for the medical.  Read the St. Luke's requirements on their website and begin gathering the needed documents.  Also, if you are ready to complete the exam then you can go online and register here.  Remember - The validity of your visa begins the clock ticking when you complete your medical. The visa is valid for only six months from your medical date and not your visa approval date. So, schedule at least one week prior to your interview in order to get the maximum time allowed on the back end of the visa.  You must arrive in the US prior to the expiration date or your visa or your visa will be invalid and you will be sent back to the Philippines.

YOU CAN ONLY SCHEDULE TWICE WITHOUT PENALTY!!!!

You will receive a warning prior to canceling your second appointment. That warning informs you will have to pay a new visa fee and there is a 90 day waiting period before being allowed to schedule a 3rd interview.
