Arrival/Departure Forms: I-94

Once you arrive into the USA and have passed through immigration and customs, your I-94 will come in handy when you have to prove your in the USA legally. The I-94 bridges the 90 day grace period between landing in US and the marriage day for the K-1 visa holders.

You will need this document if you are going to get a Social Security Card.

Foreign immigrants to the U.S. arriving via air or sea no longer need to complete paper Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Form I-94 the Arrival/Departure Record. Those who need to prove their legal immigrant status—to employers, schools/universities or government agencies—can access their CBP arrival/departure record (I94) information online and print a copy for your records.

CBP now gathers travelers’ arrival/departure information automatically from their electronic travel records. Upon arrival, a CBP officer stamps the travel document of each arriving non-immigrant traveler with the admission date, the class of admission, and the date that the traveler is admitted until. If a traveler would like a paper Form I-94, one can be requested during the inspection process but there is no need as you can print one off from the online link provided above. All requests will be accommodated in a secondary setting. Be aware, this will slow down your processing and may delay you for your next flight. It's best you print the document once you are at your new home.
